Humanoids

humanoid.jpg
One of many variations of humanoids.

The most populated race in the world. This is attributed to their unnatural adaptability, allowing them to master their environment within a matter of days. This makes them nearly unlimited in their variety of colors, appendages, talents, and mindsets. For this reason, many prefer to be called humanoids rather than simply "humans." They're the most customizable of the races, and fit any almost class nicely.

Starting Stats: Will +3, +1 Knowledge, Mana -3, Luck, -1. Humanoids are fierce and spirited when hard-pressed, but also put more stock in their reliable technology and force rather than spells.

Anatomy: humanoids invariably have two legs and two arms. This is considered the fullest confirmable physical relation between humans. Sizes and colors vary extensively, primarily depending on their primary habitat and society. Humanoids are evolutionary miracles, as their genes are especially adaptable. A humanoid will constantly adapt to their environment within a matter of days, and by weeks they will be masters of their territory. Humanoids who, for example, live in a desert, are known to grow red skin and are naturally immune to any natural heat. Such adaptations are common, though more extreme cases have been observed. Those surviving in forested areas may grow claws to aid in climbing, and some have been found possessing wings, armored hides, tails, and camouflage reflexes.

Genders: humans tend to place fairly heavy value on gender in terms of their social statues. In most societies, humans put females in less stressful or dangerous positions. However, it is always important to recognize that human cultures have incredibly varied values. Humans are not only varied physically, but psychologically.

Youth: humans and cesslins tend to grow up slower than most other races. While most races are capable of surviving on their own after 5 years, humans may still not be ready at 10. This seems to be an affect resulting from the humans' tendency to live in more hospitable and developed areas, and thus meaning less of an immediate need for survival.

Diet: humans, as with much else about them, can cope with nearly anything in their diets and react to optimize its function. Humans tend to favor a more direct, reasonable, and comfortable approach, so they often favor raising and growing their own food. Humans in less hospitable areas will often find themselves adapting physical traits that normally favor the easier obtainment of suitable food.

Names and Language: humanoids are one of the few races to commonly use surnames, but they otherwise cover fairly normal, "real" names. Their language is most often used by other races, at the very least for trade and for the sheer number of humanoids in the world. However, a simple change of dialect can throw off most alien races, and isolated subcultures may often develop a language all their own.

Territory: humanoids inhabit nearly every corner of the world, but are centralized in the mid-west of the main continent. Larger human civilizations are primarily centralized on the ideas of safety/warfare and trade, and are often located between other races' key cities. It is difficult to find any civilization that does not have at least a few humans among the population.

Psychology: humans are largely survivalists when it comes down to it. They are hard working and always ready to confront problems, but have tendencies to be somewhat lazy when they find comfort. Their emotions fluctuate more rapidly than most other races tend to, and they are protective of what is theirs. Also, as their adaptive genes constantly work to make them ideal for their habitat, they often carry a slight sense of superiority.

Technology: humans are quite capable with both magic and technology, and occasionally the fusion of the two. They are known to be very creative with their inventions, particularly when it comes to improving others' ideas. Too often has another race's design been sold to humans, only to be recreated with a few upgrades. Humans also hold the leading minds in chemistry and alchemy.

Politics/Law: humans mostly favor monarchies, most likely due to their ambitious nature. In their central civilizations, humans favor a fighter as well as a thinker in their leader. Military leaders are often promoted to leadership, though inheritance of the throne by genetics rarely last long before a revolution.

Religion: humans are fairly religious overall, and they are the favored race of Morlai, the leader of the gods. Otherwise, it is quite likely to find a human civilization containing a temple for each of the gods in any city that has the room.

Entertainment: humans of all sorts have a strong need for amusement, and so they tend to find any reason whatsoever for parties and festivals. Settlements are also rarely without taverns, and humans are also one of the sexually active of the races.

Interspecies Relations: humanoids, while active in all of history's wars, have strong interests in trade and keep up good relations with other races and civilizations. Many of the advancements throughout humanoid history have been borrowed from others, and are frequently improved upon. Humans can be seen as slightly smug, but they are normally too varied for people to form much of a stereotype for them.

Warfare: humans are very passionate about warfare, mostly because of their more intense emotional scale than other races. They tend to be capable on many levels of warface, tending to normally rely on traditional "sword and shield" methods unless their opponents raise the stakes to technological or magical levels.
