Goddess of the sea. More simplistic than most of the gods, she is fickle and fond of larger sea life. She can be wrathful
if they are assaulted, or if heavy blood in general reaches her waters. The mermaids are her personal creations, and she
is especially kind to them. Sometimes scorned by the other gods as something of a dimwit and over-emotional, she is still
unquestioned and untouchable ruler of the seas.
Appearance: a thin woman's form, with the legs fusing with a body of water
Alternate Names: Sea Queen, Monarch of Tides, Sovereign Wave
Priesthood: Miara's priests and priestesses hold rituals frequently involving water, simply another reason for their temples
to exist near the shores. Lacking this, a lake or similar is often excusable. Being accepted as one of her followers involves
a ceremony very much like that of baptism, wherein Miara acknowledges them as one of her children. Her priests are often
taken on voyages in hopes of winning her favor on their journeys, and must swear to never willfully harm a creature of the
sea. They are permitted to eat those that have been caught and prepared by another, but fishing and such are banned.
Symbols: whirlpool, a geyser forming a claw, whale on a beach
Domains: water, travel, and weather
Afterlife: the good have their spirits reincarnated as dolphins, while the evil become jellyfish, urchins, and other lowly
mutations of the sea.
"Wilco walked the beaches, carefully taking the jellyfish and starfish and clams and creatures of all sorts and returning
them to the water, knowing they would dry out and die if left alone. A beachcomber asked him why he would bother, when they
were so insignificant. Jellyfish would only sting men, and clams refused to give up pearls or meats without a dire struggle.
Wilco reminded the beachcomber that this was how the gods looked upon mortals, and that they simply needed him. It was then
that the tide shifted greatly, and the waves parted as a marvelous cloud of jellyfish and urchins and other tiny sea creatures
came to the shore. They dragged with them a child that had fallen from a boat, which had nearly drown without their collective
aid. They returned to the sea, leaving the child, and they and the youth and Wilco knew they had shared Morlai's blessings."
