There's not such thing as an ordinary iff |
the only alien beings to this world, the iff come from another dimension that is nothing but empty space. They exist as energy
there, but have managed to poke fragments of their power into this world to shape into physical bodies. The bodies arent
especially stable, but the iff are brilliant thinkers and very curious to learn more about the physical plane.
Stats: Knowledge +4, Intelligence +5, Charisma +2, Mana +2, Will +3, Awareness +3, Strength -6, Toughness -6, Reflex -3,
Luck -3. Iff are cunning, wise, and highly magical, but are not native to the physical plane and have far less weight and
strength than other races.
Anatomy: iff are creatures of absolute energy, somewhat like that of the gods (but on an infinitely smaller scale). They
have senses and organs and such just like humans, but it is all something of a brilliant illusion. Their true bodies exist
in a secondary dimension, where their energy forms can supply their bodies with what power they need. They create pinholes
between the two universes, pressuring a fraction of their energy through to become matter and explore the physical plane.
This matter can be shaped however they please, but their density remains proportional to the amount of energy put through.
Since the energy to matter ratio is so poor, iff only tend to weigh a few pounds. The amount of energy they possess and
can transmit grows over years, and iff have a theoretically indefinite lifespan as a result.
Genders: little more than preference. Iff can reproduce asexually, and so have no actual sexual orientation or gender.
All that affects their appearance are their preference towards the appearance of one or another gender or species. Some
have been noted to not even care much for a gender, being either ambiguous or managing to mix up their attributes (such as
a woman without breasts) They have very little interest in sex with other races, but they are capable of shaping genitalia
if needed.

With iffs, selecting your shape is a right, not a privelage... |
Youth: iff are complicated energies for their first several years, where they haven't developed enough energy to create enough
matter to possess a physical body. They are largely idle for their first year or so, developing their understanding of their
true forms and eventually developing a sense like sight to observe the world to some degree. There is relatively little to
do in their realm, so iff almost invariably head to the physical plane as soon as they're able.
Diet: Iff have no biological system to speak of. They don't have need to eat in the traditional sense, but their energy
will fade if it is used to replace matter they've lost. The energy can be replaced by harnessing a secondary force, which
can be taken as carbohydrates, weak magic fields, electricity, and so on. Larger amounts of such energy still harm them,
but a controlled environment can accelerate their healing significantly.
Names and Language: iff are capable of telepathy, and also communicate through sign language with one another. It is mostly
believed to be a translation of the sort of morse-code used by their energy forms in their homeworld. Iff names are also
the most varied, and seem to be chosen by themselves among other races. Also, the iff are said to have chosen this as their
race's name to be used among humans because it is the one word in basic that is the same in their own tongue.
Territory: iff don't bother with the concept of owning physical property. They consider their real home to be their own
dimension, where the bulk of their form exists.
Psychology: iff are somewhat detached from life, as their real form exists in another dimension and is essentially indestructible.
Destruction in the material realm only means a few years of waiting around for a new shape to become accessible. This sense
of safety and fondness for knowledge makes many of them patient, sensible creatures, and can often be noted to chuckle to
themselves as the logic of other creatures.
Technology: iff, being able to take a number of shapes, have little interest in using technology. However, an inquiring
iff mind may often pry into their workings, and may usually figure a device out fairly easily. Their frail bodies makes some
more powerful weaponry difficult to use,
Politics/Law: while not so much believing in upholding or supporting the law, iff mostly wish to live as observers to
this world, and so rarely try and raise trouble. Just what a particular iff perceives as trouble is another matter entirely.
Iffs as a whole are too distant from one another to have laws among themselves.

Genders? Who needs em? |
Religion: iff are creatures very much like the gods themselves, being made of energy themselves. They rarely pray to them,
and tend not to experience an afterlife often, as they rarely expel all their energy at once without having some reserves
in their home world. However, they will always acknowledge them as higher beings, being composed of much more energy than
themselves. This earns them some respectful distance from them, not wishing to anger them.
Entertainment: iff consider this world to be a practical resort in itself, and so they tend to be very easily amused,
if not intrigued. However, most iff seem to have a sort of hobby in the collection of information and experience.
Interspecies Relations: iff exist in this world almost solely for interaction and observation of the other races. That
is, it was the original purpose for coming there. The iff are social creatures, as this world proves much more interesting
than one of pure energy. They are considered to be very wise and some see them as practical angels or other higher beings.
Some have attributed them as just another generation of elves.
Warfare: iff are rarely involved in war, as they don't care for territories, need little in trade, and are commonly lacking
in direct combat. Some may be ally with other races (mostly to act as medics) out of sheer curiosity. Their involvement
as far as offense almost exclusively involves magic of some sort, though some may take on physical combat given their general
ability to grow back from nearly any physical damage over time. This has also created some interesting kamikaze strategies.
